For most Americans the Fourth of July is a day to celebrate life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness with food, drinks, fireworks, friends and family. Oh, and trying to put together an ensemble that includes red, white and blue. Every year, like clockwork, I end up at the store at the last minute looking for something to decorate with, a dish to take to a party, and an accessory to complete my patriotic clothing tribute. This year I decided in the spirit of frugality and peace of mind I am going to plan ahead. I've built quite the Fourth of July Pinterest board, with tons of great ideas on this great American holiday.

First, decorating the home. Wreaths are an easy way to make the outside of your home look festive for any season or holiday! You can find wreath hangers at Walmart for less than five dollars. Check out your local craft stores for sales on supplies, Hobby Lobby always has a coupon for 40% off one item. Check out the tutorial for this bandanna wreath, an inexpensive way to decorate the front door!

Now here is a dish worth sharing! No oven required, prep time under 30 minutes AND delicious! Pinterest has recipes for skill levels from beginning to world class chef. I chose an easy one, but I love the flag design. Check out the recipe here, its a great solution for anyone who wants to contribute but doesn't have a ton of extra time!

And last but not least...

For those 21 and up looking to celebrate with an adult beverage, I love these patriotic Jell-O shots! With a little patience and prep time these would definitely be a hit at any party! The recipe sounds fairly simply, with the best part being that even if it doesn't turn out exactly right, you have a delicious drink!

Hopefully these tips help you celebrate the holiday and have some fun! The most important part of the Fourth of July is remembering why we're celebrating! Thank you to all the men and women in our military services.
